Electrical Test & Tag
Inspection and testing of corded electrical equipment, carried out by competent DGE staff holding UEERL0003 and UEECD0007.
Every item tagged, logged and due-dated in your portal.
What this service covers
- inspection and testing of corded electrical equipment to AS/NZS 3760
- Programmed test sequences, so every item of a type is tested identically
- Construction and demolition sites to AS/NZS 3012
- Failed items tagged out and withdrawn from service
- Every item logged in your Asset Management Portal
Scope Limitations
- No electrical installation work
- No RCD testing
- No repairs or electrical alterations
- Anything beyond test and tag requires a licensed electrician
Our scope matches the qualification held; cord-connected equipment and cord assemblies. We identify and tag out faults; rectification is your electrician’s work.
What Gets Tested & Who Tests
- Visual inspection of the item, lead and plug
- Earth continuity resistance on Class I equipment
- Insulation resistance
- Leakage current
- Polarity, on cords and extension leads
- Functional test
- UEERL0003 & UEECD0007 Trained DGE Staff
- Results recorded against each item, not just the site
Applicable Standards
| Reference | Title | What it governs |
|---|---|---|
| AS/NZS 3760:2022 | In-service safety inspection and testing of electrical equipment | The testing and tagging regime |
| AS/NZS 3012:2010 | Electrical installations; Construction and demolition sites | Additional requirements on construction and demolition sites. The WHS Regulations reference the 2010 edition at r. 146A. |
| WHS Regulations (WA) | Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022 | Your duties for electrical safety in the workplace. r. 150 – inspection and testing of electrical equipment. r. 151 – untested electrical equipment not to be used. |
How it Works
- Send the site details
Site address, approximate item count, and any access or induction requirements.
- Quote and schedule
Priced and dated against your due dates and site access.
- Inspect and test
Visual inspection, then the programmed electrical sequence; earth continuity on Class I equipment, insulation resistance, leakage current, polarity on cords and leads, and a functional test. If any step fails, the sequence stops there and the item is recorded as failed.
- Tag and record
Test tag showing test date and next test due. Failed items tagged out and withdrawn from service.
- Logged and tracked
Every item in your client portal with its own identifier and due date, and a reminder before it lapses.
Every Certificate. Every Due Date. Tracked 24/7.
A live asset register, not a document file.
- Dashboard access across every asset and certificate. Search, filter and auto-generate spreadsheets for reporting and audit. Reminders at 90 days, 30 days, and when a certificate is overdue. Accessible 24/7, current at all times.
Audit-ready. Complete compliance register exports in one step – no reconstructing it from certificates in a drawer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Site address, an approximate item count, and any access or induction requirements. If you already hold a register of tested items, send that – it is the fastest route to an accurate price.
DGE test and tag technicians hold two nationally recognised units of competency: UEERL0003 – Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord-connected equipment and cord assemblies, and UEECD0007 – Apply work health and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace. That matches the definition the WHS Regulations themselves use: r. 5 defines a competent person for inspecting and testing electrical equipment as someone who has completed a competency-assessed training course on testing and tagging using a portable appliance tester. Our scope is exactly the scope of that qualification, which is why we test cord-connected equipment and refer anything else to a licensed electrician.
Test and tag only, on corded equipment. We inspect and test it, tag it, and record the result. We do not carry out electrical installation work, RCD testing, repairs or alterations. Where an item fails it is tagged out, withdrawn from service, and recorded against its own identifier so the fault is traceable – rectification is work for a licensed electrician.
Yes. Construction and demolition sites carry additional requirements under AS/NZS 3012, which sit on top of the general AS/NZS 3760 regime. Tell us the site type when you enquire, because it changes the scope.
Visual inspection of the item, lead and plug, then a programmed electrical sequence; earth continuity resistance on Class I equipment, insulation resistance, leakage current, polarity on cords and extension leads, and a functional test. The sequence is programmed rather than ad hoc, so every item of a type gets the same tests in the same order, and a failure stops the sequence rather than being noted and passed over.
It depends on the equipment type and the environment it works in, and construction and demolition sites are treated differently again. Send us your equipment list and we’ll confirm your intervals in writing rather than guessing at them.
The results land in the same register as other compliance obligations i.e. Fire Equipment Register and/or Pressure Equipment Register. One portal, one set of reminders, one export when an auditor asks; instead of a separate spreadsheet and a different provider for every compliance obligation you carry.
