Frequently Asked Questions
Vessel serial number, plant registration number, design registration number, vessel type and last inspection date. Site address plus any access or induction requirements. An asset folder or an asset register spreadsheet covers all of it; both of which you can attach to the booking form.
AS 3788 requires inspection by a competent person. DGE Inspectors hold AICIP, API or equivalent certification.

We also carry out commissioning inspection on new and newly installed equipment, which catches marking and documentation problems while they are still cheap to fix.
Not necessarily. Inspections are carried out online or offline, and which applies depends on the scope as detailed above. AS 3788:2024 sets out where each is appropriate. Online inspection can reveal conditions that are not observable once equipment is shut down. Access permits, isolation and cleaning requirements are agreed with you beforehand.
Intervals are set by AS 3788 Table 4.1, or by a risk-based inspection program where you run one. We also assess extended internal intervals and allowable deferral, which AS 3788 provides for in defined circumstances, case by case against your equipment’s condition and history. Equipment sitting idle still carries obligations. Send your asset documentation and/or asset register and we’ll confirm all of it in writing.
It does not condemn the vessel. AS 3788 provides for missing documentation and name plates to be developed and validated by a competent person, and for inadequate marking to be reinstated. We retrieve Manufacturer’s Data Reports where they exist, supply replacement data plates marked to AS 1210, handle plant registration lodgement, and supply gauges to AS 1210.
